ECW On Sci-Fi Results - 10/24/06
St. Louis, Missouri
Report By: James Caldwell of PWTorch.com
ECW on Sci-Fi Opener:
RVD came out dressed to wrestle to start the show. He took the mic, but it wasn't on initially. They turned up his volume so we could hear RVD say someone actually pinned the previously unbeatable giant last week. He said it wasn't easy, but everybody's favorite wrestler got the job done. Loud "R-V-D" chant. RVD then wondered aloud when Big Show would put the ECW Title on the line. Paul Heyman then walked out to interrupt RVD. His security guards entered the ring with him. Heyman said Show was undefeated in ECW until last week when RVD pinned him. He said that as the father of ECW and as a man of his word (chuckle chuckle), he has a contract for RVD to challenge Show for the title. Heyman said the catch is that RVD must retrieve the contract tonight in a ladder match against Show. If RVD can retrieve the contract, he can sign it and call his shot for when the match takes place. Heyman said that if Show grabs the contract, he is within his rights to tear up the title match contract and grant RVD no title match. Heyman's security then jumped RVD and beat him down. RVD fought out with his educated feet then Heyman bailed to the outside. RVD smiled as he looked up to the ceiling.

CM Punk vs. Matt Striker
The start:
Styles repeated the same lines about Striker being a disgraced N.Y.C. schoolteacher. Please, add something new to the script. Maybe an example of when he made a student cry because he gave the student an F on a test. The fans chanted for Punk before the match started.
Mid-match notes:
Punk ran over Striker with a big kick to the face then he applied a hammerlock submission. Styles repeated the same lines about Punk being straight edge. Striker countered a hammerlock and shoved Punk shoulder-first into the corner ringpost. Striker then focused his attack on Punk's left shoulder. Punk fought out then landed charging forearm blows. He hit the combination high leg kick in the corner followed by a bulldog.
The Finish:
Punk struggled to balance himself with a springboard clothesline, but he caught Striker with the move. He went for the urinagi, but Mike Knox ran into the ring and jumped Punk from behind, prompting a DQ. Knox went for a high kick, but Punk ducked. He then caught Knox on the ear with a standing sidekick. Knox rolled to the outside and stumbled to the back with Striker.
Winner by disqualification, CM Punk
3 Weeks Ago:
They showed footage of Test jumping Hardcore Holly from behind three weeks ago after Holly took the nasty table bump one month ago.

Test vs. Hardcore Holly
The start:
Tazz said he could relate to Test because Test is always in a bad mood. Styles confirmed Tazz's self-deprecating statement. Holly came out to an apathetic reaction. They definitely rushed the babyface turn. Holly ran over Test with a back elbow smash early on. He followed with hard right hands to the face. Holly then choked Test in the corner, as if he were the heel in the match. Test bailed to the outside to catch his breath.
Mid-match notes:
Test baited Holly to the outside, then he slammed Holly into the ringpost. Back in the ring, Test landed hard elbow smashes in the corner. Holly came back with a running clothesline, which generated a few cheers. Holly then tied up Test in the ropes. He stomped and kicked Test before the referee unhooked Test, who slipped to the outside. Holly followed him out and Test threw him into the ring steps. Holly returned the favor before rolling Test back into the ring. Holly took too long getting back in the ring, which allowed Test to drop a leg across the back of the neck into the ropes. There was a faint" boring chant. They answered with - what else? - a big crash and burn suplex spot to the outside where both men landed on the floor.
Test worked on Holly's back out of the break. Test rammed Holly into the corner ringpost then made a cover for a nearfall. He applied a standing bear hug, but Holly fought out. He tried to reverse a whip, but he lost his grip with Test and he stumbled to the corner. Holly came back with a hard clothesline. Both men recovered on the mat. Holly knocked over Test with a flurry of clotheslines for a mild crowd reaction. Test then reversed a whip to the ropes and landed a powerslam for a nearfall. He went up top, but he took too long and Holly grabbed the ropes to crotch Test. Holly came back with a leg drop from the second ropes for another nearfall. The fans booed, seemingly because the match wouldn't end.
The Finish:
Test reversed a whip then went for a pumphandle slam, but Holly slipped out and went for the Alabama Slam. Test grabbed the top rope to break the hold so Holly kicked him between the legs, apparently high enough not to be a low blow. Test delivered a thumb to the eye then he rammed Holly shoulder-first into the corner ringpost. Test rolled up Holly from behind and hooked the tights for the win.
Winner - Test
The Aftermath:
fterward, Test grabbed a chair and slammed it over Holly's back several times.
Backstage:
Rebecca was backstage with The Sandman for a promo about Cyber Sunday. Sandman told the fans to vote for him against Umaga. He said he's beaten up plenty of Samoans in bars during his life. Vote Sandman for Blood. "I'm the Sandman and I approved this message," he said after smashing a beer can over his head.
Non Title Match
Ladder Match

Rob Van Dam vs. The Big Show (c)
RVD came out for the main event ladder match. Show walked out with the ECW Title before they cut to a break.
The start:
RVD and Show stared each other down after the bell rang. RVD then slid under the ropes and retrieved a ladder. Show knocked the ladder out of RVD's hand and to the outside. They exchanged right hand blows then RVD hopped to the top and landed a back kick to the chest. Show stumbled backwards then RVD knocked him off his feet with another kick.
Mid-match notes:
RVD grabbed a ladder from the outside and tried to set it up in the ring, but Show cut him off. Show landed the open palm slap to the chest in the corner. He then whipped RVD back-first into the ladder in the corner. Show grabbed the ladder and tried to knock down the contract with the ladder, but RVD grabbed a second ladder and rammed it into Show's gut. RVD then rammed it into Show's face. Show came up bleeding. RVD swung one of the ladders toward Show then he jumped off the top rope and kicked the ladder into Show's face. Pretty cool spot. RVD then hit a painful looking Rolling Thunder onto the ladder, which was on top of Show.
RVD did the slow climb up the ladder, but Show tipped over the ladder and RVD crashed into the ropes. Show picked up RVD and threw him into a ladder propped up in the corner. Show stumbled around the ring as blood spilled out of his forehead. Show then stood on the ladder, which was on top of RVD's chest. RVD tried to make a comeback, but Show speared him to the mat. Show slammed RVD onto a ladder then he set up for a corner Vader Bomb. RVD rolled out of the way and Show ate the ladder gut-first. He picked up a ladder and drove it hard into Show's gut. Show then caught RVD in the corner and effortlessly chokeslammed him.
The Finish:
Show set up a ladder in center ring, but RVD ran up the ladder and jumped onto him. Show held him in powerbomb position, but RVD pushed him against the ropes and took him over the top rope with a huricanrana. Show nearly ripped off the apron on the way down. RVD quickly hopped into the ring and scaled the ladder to grab the contract.
Winner - Rob Van Dam
The Aftermath:
Afterward, Show began weeping as he watched RVD celebrate in the ring.
