TNA iMPACT Results – October 26, 2006

Report by Richard Trionfo of PWInsider

Last Sunday was Total Nonstop Action Wrestling’s first monthly pay per view foray outside of the confines of Universal Studios in Orlando , Florida . When TNA left Orlando before Bound for Glory, your champions were Jeff Jarrett; A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels; and Senshi. Tonight, your champions are Sting; the Latin American Exchange; and Chris Sabin. What will happen when Sting addresses the Impact Zone as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion? Will we see new contenders for the tag titles or will A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels try to regain the titles? What is next for Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle? Will we hear from Kurt Angle? What matches will be announced for Genesis?

Tonight’s show starts off with highlights from Sunday night’s Bound for Glory pay per view

We are live on tape from Universal Studios in Orlando , Florida and your announcers are Mike ‘TNA’ Tenay and Don ‘you have got to be kidding me’ West.

We are told that Samoa Joe will face Kurt Angle at Genesis and that there will be a tournament to determine who faces Sting at Genesis.

The new NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Sting comes to the ring, but while the lights are out, Christian Cage joins Sting in the ring and he has a mic. Christian says that he hates to rain on Sting’s parade and steal his thunder, but he figures that since Sting has been stealing his thunder, he would return the favor. Christian says that it is a load of crap that he needs to compete in the Fight for your Right Tournament to earn a shot at the title that he did not lose nor get a rematch for. He tells Sting that he is going to sit there with a straight look on his face that there are seventeen wrestlers, who on their best day could not carry his jockstrap, who get the same opportunity. Christian wants to know what the deal is. Does it have to do with him cracking Sting in the skull with a guitar a few months ago? He comments on the ‘new and improved’ Sting. Christian says that he sees a man who is scared, a man who is terrified of the fact that he is not the biggest star in the industry because that man is Christian Cage. Christian tells Sting to cut the crap because everyone knows that Sting has the stroke to name his opponent at Genesis, so why not do Christian Cage versus Sting for the NWA Championship. He tells Sting to stop hiding behind the makeup and be a man.

Sting gets on the mic and he tells Christian that if he wants a shot at the title, he can have it. However, it will not be at Genesis, but when he says. String pulls out his baseball bat and he jabs Christian in the midsection and then he clotheslines Christian over the top rope with the bat.

Jeremy Borash is in the back and he says that Kurt Angle will speak to the fans in the Impact Zone. Samoa Joe comes up behind Borash and he comments on how Angle will be in the building so everyone will get to know Kurt a little better. Joe says that they have already gotten to know each other. Tonight, they get up close and personal. We go to commercial.

We are back and Shane Doug las is in the ring telling them to cut his damn music. He says that the time has finally come for his number one contenders to get their title match. He brings out the number one contenders, The Newly Franchised Naturals.

Before the match, we see footage of Hernandez giving Gail Kim the border toss.

Match Number One: LAX (with Konnan) versus The Naturals (with Shane Doug las)

As LAX comes to the ring, they are attacked from behind by America ’s Most Wanted. Harris works over Hernandez while Storm attacks Homicide and they fight into the crowd. Konnan hits Storm with the slapjack but Storm fights Konnan off. Harris and Storm send Hernandez and Homicide into the ring and they want to continue the attack, but security comes out to stop them from entering the ring.

Stevens and Doug las attack Homicide and Hernandez when they are rolled into the ring by Harris and Storm. Doug las punches Hernandez while Stevens punches Homicide. Hernandez sends Doug las into the turnbuckles and he connects with shoulders. Stevens gives Homicide a biel and then he goes after Hernandez. Stevens and Doug las hit a double shoulder tackle on Hernandez and then Stevens gets Homicide set up for a TKO but he knees Homicide in the head as he takes him down and then Doug las hits the running high knee. Doug las and Stevens hit a double cross arm clothesline on Hernandez and Stevens gets a two count. Homicide sends Doug las out of the ring. Stevens punches Homicide and then he punches Hernandez and hits a flying clothesline. We see Doug las on the floor holding his side. Homicide hits the Gringo Killer on Stevens but Doug las returns to the ring and he goes after Homicide. Konnan hits Doug las with the slapjack and then Hernandez chops Doug las and then he hits the border toss and Homicide makes the cover for the three count.

Winners: Latin American Exchange

After the match, Hernandez, Homicide, and Konnan attack Stevens and Doug las. We see Shane Doug las on the Stage of Facial Impact and he does not appear happy with what he just saw. While the Latin American Exchange leaves the ring, Shane enters. Shane yells at Andy and Chase and then he slaps Chase in the face, but Chase returns the favor. Andy punches Shane and Shane goes down and Shane is bleeding from the mouth. Shane smiles at Andy and Chase.

We go to the latest Paparazzi Productions feature with Alex Shelley and Kevin Nash. Shelley wants to talk about Austin Starr’s victory in the battle royal. He wants to get to the bottom of things. Alex wants to know if Kevin thinks that Austin is better than him. Nash says that Austin is different. Kevin asks Alex if Johnny Devine is gone and Alex says that Devine has been fired. Nash talks about how Devine was insubordinate for not editing certain films. Austin Starr enters the room and he talks about his big trophy. Nash talks about how he was gone for a few months and how the X Division went into the toilet, but in one night Austin Starr single handedly brought it back. Starr agrees with Nash. Nash wants Starr to film everything that Starr does. Shelley wants to know why he has to do it. We go to commercial.

We are back and Don and Mike are at the announce position. They talk about how TNA is mentioned in an article about A.J. Pierzynski in the World Series program. Mike talks about the Fight for your Right Tournament to determine who will face Sting at Genesis. There are three stages to the match. The first stage involves eighteen wrestlers outside the ring. The first seven men to get into the ring will advance to stage two. Stage Two will be a battle royal to determine the tournament seeding and will continue until there are two men remaining. Stage Three will be a match between the final two men and the winner gets a bye into the finals.

The eighteen men around the ring are Chris Sabin, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Eric Young, Senshi, Frankie Kazarian, Raven, Lance Hoyt, A.J. Styles, Kip James, Christopher Daniels, Brother Runt, Ron Killings, Brother Devon, James Storm, Robert Roode, Abyss, and Christian Cage.

Match Number Two: Fight For Your Right Battle Royal

Stage One starts off with all of the participants outside the ring. The battle starts for people to get into the ring and Eric Young runs around the ring. Brother Runt pokes Eric Young in the eyes. Brother Devon punches A.J. Styles. Senshi and Christian try to get into the ring, but Raven keeps Christian from getting in. Sonjay Dutt and Abyss pull Brother Runt back to the floor while Eric Young continues to run around the ring. Abyss sends Brother Runt into the guardrails. Robert Roode is the first man to enter the ring. Don and Mike talk about how BG James was supposed to be in the match, but he got frustrated with everything going on in TNA that he left the building. We see Brother Ray standing on the Ramp of Facial Impact to watch the match. Chris Sabin is in the second man into the ring. Senshi keeps Christopher Daniels from getting into the ring. We cut to the bleachers where Matt Bentley is watching the action, but he has changed his appearance. Senshi kicks Daniels, but Styles pulls Senshi off the apron. Jay Lethal is pulled off the apron by Hoyt and Abyss, and then Sonjay Dutt is given the same treatment. Senshi fights with Daniels and Styles on the apron and it appears that Senshi is going to suplex Styles from the apron. Meanwhile on the other side of the ring, Raven tries to enter, but Sabin knocks Raven off the apron and the referees tell Sabin to get back into his corner. Styles and Daniels send Senshi into the guardrail from the apron and then they enter the ring at the same time to be the third and fourth men to advance.

We go to the Ramp of Facial Impact where Brother Ray and Shane Doug las are arguing. Christian tries to enter the ring, but Brother Devon holds on to Christian. On the other side of the ring, Lance Hoyt becomes the sixth to qualify. The Naturals join Shane Doug las while Brother Devon leaves ringside to join his ‘brother’ in the discussion. Back to the match, Ron Killings becomes the final man to qualify for Stage Two. Chris Harris joins in the fray as America ’s Most Wanted and LAX fight to the back. We go to commercial.

We are back with Stage Two of the Fight for your Right Tournament, the battle royal. Killings fights with Daniels and he hits a modified DDT on Daniels. Roode and Sabin fight in one corner while Hoyt, Styles, and Abyss battle in the other. Hoyt tries to eliminate Abyss. Sabin and Killings battle in the ropes and Robert Roode comes from behind and eliminates Killings, making him the seventh seed. Sabin hits a springboard drop kick on Roode. Sabin tries for a tornado DDT, but Roode counters it and he tosses Sabin over the top rope to the floor, making Sabin the sixth seed. Hoyt with a big boot to Daniels and then he goes after Roode. Abyss works over Styles, but Daniels saves his tag team partner. Daniels punches Abyss and he tries to Irish whip Abyss, but Abyss will not move. Abyss grabs Daniels by the throat for a choke slam, but Styles breaks up the hold and Styles and Daniels hit the double goozle on Abyss. Styles and Daniels celebrate but Styles pushes Daniels out of the way of a charging Robert Roode and Styles is clotheslined for his actions. Daniels and Roode exchange punches. Daniels puts Roode on the top turnbuckle and he punches Roode. Traci Brooks grabs Daniels’s foot and Roode pulls Daniels up to the top rope and Roode eliminates Daniels, making him the fifth seed. Styles with a jumping kick to the side of Roode’s head to eliminate Roode, making him the fourth seed. Styles punches Abyss and tries to eliminate Abyss. Hoyt climbs the turnbuckles and he hits a moonsault for a two count. Hoyt charges into a boot and then Abyss hits the Shock Treatment, but he can only get a two count. Abyss misses a charge into the corner and Hoyt hits a drop kick that sends Abyss into the corner. Mitchell gets on the apron and he distracts the referee. Hoyt puts the chair in front of Abyss’s face and Hoyt hits the Hoyt Blaster, but Hoyt can only get a two count. Hoyt gets Abyss up, but Abyss gets out of the hold and Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam for the three count.

Winner: Abyss

We go to an interview conducted after the main event at Bound for Glory with Jeff Jarrett. Jeremy Borash is with Jeff Jarrett and Borash asks if he underestimated Sting. Jarrett says that for the first ten minutes, he had Sting’s number. There was something in that match that transformed in him. He saw a new Sting and tonight he was the better man. Jeremy asks about a rematch for next month. Jarrett says that he is going home. In every athlete’s career, there comes a time when you just need to step back to refocus and rethink about your career. He says that he has done more in this business than he ever thought that he could. A skinny, punk kid that came this far and carried a company for four and a half years. He says that he might have dropped the ball on some personal things and professional things. Jarrett says that he is going home. He says that he has one thought. He tells Sting to be careful what he wishes for. He tells Sting that his fight has just begun and he hopes that Sting is ready to carry the ball with the position that he is in.

Don and Mike talk about Jarrett’s comments and Mike says that it is a side of Jarrett that we have never seen before. Don talks about the emotion from Jarrett and he says that he has a new found respect for Jeff Jarrett. We go to commercial.

We are back with a video package for the Samoa Joe/Kurt Angle confrontation from Bound for Glory. We see the headbutt and Angle slam from the previous episode of Impact. Then we see the battle between the two men at Bound for Glory.

Kurt Angle comes to the ring and he has something to say. He says that a lot of people asked him why he left ‘the other place’ to come to TNA. They ask if he was fired, if it was a mutual release, or if he quit. Angle tells everyone why he quit. He did not want to quit wrestling; he wanted to wrestle for the best audience in the world. Angle says that it is real, it’s damn real. The other reason why he came to TNA was because there is no other company with the talent that TNA has. He says that nobody compares to the talent that is backstage. He wants to kick everyone’s ass to prove that he is the best in TNA. If you are the best in TNA, then you are the best in the world. There is one man in particular who made him want to come to TNA. That man is undefeated. The crowd chants ‘Joe’s gonna kill you’ and Angle tells everyone that he is terrified of Samoa Joe, but that is what makes him the best. He loves fear and that is when he kicks peoples asses, makes them tap, and breaks their ankles. Samoa Joe might be undefeated and unbreakable, but what the people at the TNA headquarters never told him was that Samoa Joe was a bleeder.

Samoa Joe comes out and Angle asks Joe if he wants to bleed again. Joe comes to the ring and they brawl inside the ring before security can separate them. Joe and Angle are able to get away from security and they lock up again, only to be separated again. Security is unable to do the job so some of the wrestlers from the back come out to help calm things down. That fails as well and we go to credits.
