TNA iMPACT Results - November 2, 2006

Report by Richard Trionfo of PWInsider

We are now two weeks away from the prime time debut for Impact and we continue on the road to Genesis, featuring the first match between Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. Which three men will advance this week in the Fight for Your Right Tournament to see who will join Abyss in the final to determine who will be the first man to challenge Sting for the NWA World Heavyweight Title? What will happen as we move closer to the barbed wire steel cage match between Christian Cage and Rhino for the prime time debut? Will we hear more from Jeff Jarrett? What is next for the tag team champions and who will their opponents be for Genesis? Is Alex Shelley still jealous of Austin Starr becoming ‘buddy buddy’ with Kevin Nash?

We start off tonight’s show with footage from the Fight for Your Right Tournament Battle Royal. Then we see the brawl between Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle.

We are live on tape from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida and your announcers are Mike ‘TNA’ Tenay and Don ‘you have got to be kidding me’ West.

Don and Mike talk about the next stage of the Fight for Your Right Tournament, and they talk about the three matches as Ron Killings faces Lance Hoyt; Christopher Daniels faces Robert Roode; and A.J. Styles faces Chris Sabin.

We go to some altercations that occurred earlier today involving Chris Sabin and A.J. Styles. Chris Sabin was being interviewed by Christy Hemme and he talks about how the ‘old timers’ wear the title belt on their shoulders and how he thought it should be worn like a belt. Sabin says that people have been doubting his focus and abilities in the ring. He says that one of those people is Jerry Lynn. Chris says that a man’s physical peak is at thirty and Jerry is beyond that while Chris Sabin is beneath that age. For Jerry to say that he has not been focused, the title belt proves Lynn wrong.

A.J. Styles comes over and he says that he is not going to sit there and listen to Sabin’s crap. Styles asks Sabin if he knows what Jerry Lynn has done for the X Division Title and then he walks away. Sabin calls Styles a punk and Styles goes after Sabin.

We go to comments an hour later by A.J. Styles as he is interviewed by Christy Hemme. He apologizes for what he did and Chris Sabin interrupts. Sabin asks Styles if he wants the title and then he says that he is not going to be punked out. Sabin says that he is not going to wait for A.J. Styles to challenge him for the title so he is going to put the title on the line. Sabin leaves and A.J. says that it is about respect.

Match Number One: Chris Sabin versus A.J. Styles in a Quarterfinal Match in the Fight for your Right Tournament and for the X Division Title

Sabin gets Styles up for the Cradle Shock, but Styles counters and he gets the three count with an inside cradle. We go to commercial.
Winner: A.J. Styles

We are back and Don and Mike are at the announce table. Mike talks about how we are going to see an interview with Sting that shocked him. Don talks about how in addition to the new look for Sting, he has a new mindset.

Sting says that when Jeff Jarrett met him at Bound for Glory, Jarrett said that he knew something was different. Sting says that Jarrett knew that he was a changed man. Sting says that he felt that he was looking into a mirror because he saw the same thing in Jeff Jarrett. Sting says that he recently found out that Jarrett has had a number of severe personal problems in his own life and that Jarrett is walking in the shadow of the valley of death and in deep, dark despair. He referred to Jarrett as the ‘cancer’ in TNA, but the cancer is the NWA World Title. It is everything that the world calls success. In the past, the title has represented lust and greed, power, lying, cheating, and stealing. Now the title will represent honor, respect, dignity, and truth. Sting says the truth of the matter is that he is going to give credit where credit is due. He gives credit to his maker and that without God he is nothing.

Jeremy Borash is in the back with Lance Hoyt and Ron Killings. Jeremy mentions that they are tag team partners, but now they are opponents. Killings says that you are looking at a two time champion, and anytime an opportunity comes around, he is going to get involved. He says that Lance Hoyt is his buddy and friend, but friends do not pay the bills. It is all about business and separating the man from the boys in the ring. Lance says that Ron has been a champion before, but now it is his chance to win the title for the first time. Lance says that if he gets a chance in the ring, he will take his head off; but after the match, they can be cool.

Lance and Ron leave, but Eric Young pops up behind Jeremy Borash. Eric wants to know if Jeremy has seen Jeff, but Jeremy has not seen him. Jeremy congratulates Eric for getting his job back, but Eric says he got it back for now. Eric says that he misses Jeff and he tells Jeremy to let Jeff know if he sees him. We go to commercial.

Match Number Two: Ron Killings versus Lance Hoyt in a Fight for Your Right Quarterfinal match
Hoyt backs Killings into the corner and he gives a clean break. Killings with a series of rollups for two count. Killings with a side head lock, but Hoyt with a shoulder tackle. Hoyt punches Killings but Killings avoids a charge from Hoyt and he hits a jumping leg lariat. Killings misses the axe kick but he hits a flying forearm and then he hits the axe kick for the three count.
Winner: Ron Killings

After the match, the James Gang enter the ring. BG shakes hands with Ron Killings before he gets on the mic. He apologizes to both men before he makes his comments. He has a brief history lesson for the fans. Ten years ago, they were personally sought out and scouted by a couple of nothing happening scallywags who couldn’t get themselves over so they got him and Kip to do the dirty work for them. A little while after that, the world saw right through those two and everyone saw who the real champions were and you couldn’t fool them any more. They should have known their limitations. Time to fast forward to a time pre-James Gang when the 3 Live Kru were around. A black guy, a Latino, and a straight up cracker jack. He says that he will be damned if that was not marketable and the upper echelon of TNA dropped the ball. He is tired of them dropping the ball. If they cannot get him work, he knows where to find it. For the six months that the James Gang has been together and the upper echelon is sitting there with their thumbs up their asses. BG says that you can take your TNA hat and wipe your ass with it because you have seen the last of the James Gang. Kip gets on the mic and he wants to know when BG got so politically correct and soft. Kip says that he is not going to candy coat it one bit. Kip addresses TNA and SpikeTV, but his mic is cut off. Kip goes to the announce table and gets on the headset. He says that everyone is going to listen to him, but they cut him off again. Kip gets on the announce table and before he can say what he wants, we go to commercial.

Match Number Three: Robert Roode (with Ms. Brooks) versus Christopher Daniels in a Fight for Your Right Quarterfinal Match
Traci Brooks gets on the apron at the start of the match to distract Daniels and allow Roode to get the advantage as he kicks Daniels in the corner. Winner: Robert Roode

After the match, Traci stands over Daniels and A.J. Styles comes to the ring and Brooks and Roode leave the ring. Styles helps Daniels up and Daniels wants to know what is going on. Styles and Daniels have some words and A.J. tries to calm him down. We go to commercial.

Christian and Rhino fight on the top turnbuckle in front of the key and Rhino knocks Christian off the top rope to the floor. Rhino grabs the key and then he goes to the floor as we go to commercial.

We are back and Christian is returned to the ring. We go to footage during the commercial when Rhino grabbed the straitjacket.
