An era of Impact ends tonight as Total Nonstop Action Wrestling prepares for their prime time debut next week. We are also less than two weeks from the first one-on-one match between Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle at Genesis. Who will win the ‘Fight for your Right’ Tournament and face Sting at Genesis, as well as facing Kurt Angle next week? What is next for the Latin American Exchange?
We start off with a look back at the Fight for your Right Tournament and how things have developed.
We are live on tape from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida and your announcers are Mike ‘TNA’ Tenay and Don ‘you have got to be kidding me’ West.
Match Number One: A.J. Styles (with Christopher Daniels) versus Ron Killings (with Lance Hoyt) versus Robert Roode (with Ms. Traci Brooks) in the Fight for your Right Tournament semi-final match
Roode has some words for Killings and Styles, but Styles and Killings have some fists for Roode. Styles with a phenomenal drop kick after a series of leap frogs by Styles and Killings. Roode is sent out of the ring and Styles prepares for a plancha but he lands on the apron when Roode pulls Traci in front of him. Roode tries to pull Styles off the apron, but he is not able to do so before Killings hits a somersault plancha onto Roode. Styles hits an Asai Moonsault onto Roode. Styles covers Killings for a near fall. Styles with a back breaker to Killings for a two count. Killings floats over and does a split before hitting a jumping leg lariat and a wheelbarrow slam but Roode makes the save. Roode punches Killings as the cameras pan the Impact Zone and find Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Chris Sabin, and Jerry Lynn watching the match. Killings with a flying forearm to Styles when Roode drops down. Roode throws Killings out of the ring and then Roode dives at Styles’s leg and then he works on A.J.’s leg. Roode knocks Killings off the apron as he continues to work on Styles. Roode with the rolling Maple Leaf to Styles, but Killings with a missile drop kick to Roode. Styles and Killings exchange punches. Styles flips out of a belly-to-back attempt and Styles hits an enzuigiri on Killings followed by a Pele kick to Roode. Styles goes up top, but Ms. Brooks grabs A.J.’s leg. Daniels pulls Brooks off Styles and then Hoyt picks Traci up and he puts her in the front row. A fan in the front row spills a drink all over Traci as Roode hits a superplex. Traci pushes the fan and then Roode leaves the ring and he pushes the fan. Killings tries for the axe kick, but Styles moves out of the way and Styles with a rollup for the three count.
Winner: A.J. Styles
After the match, the cameras cut to Chris Sabin and he does not look excited at A.J.’s victory. We go to commercial.
We are back and we see Robert Roode yelling at Traci after the match in the back. He yells at Traci about losing a shot at the NWA Title. He talks about how the fans were booing him. He says that he needs crowd control and an image consultant so people love Robert Roode and spend their money on Robert Roode. She needs to interview people for crowd control, PR people, and an image consultant. He tells Traci to do his job before she gets fired.
Shane Douglas is in the ring and he says that he has a problem with someone and he calls out Brother Ray. Brother Ray comes to the ring and he appears to be confused as to why he is called out, but he has a mic. Shane says that he came out here a few weeks ago to stand next to Brother Ray during the tournament and he whispered something in Brother Ray’s ear. Brother Ray disrespected Shane. Brother Ray says that he is caught off guard by Shane because he never disrespected him. He might not have liked what Shane said, but why does Shane hold a grudge against at either Ray or Devon. Shane interrupts and says that Brother Ray cannot tell him who he should be pissed at. He says that the Naturals have earned everything they earned, unlike another team that has rested on some washed up history from some washed up legacy from some washed up company. He says that the more things change, the more they stay the same and Shane slaps Brother Ray. The Naturals enter the ring and they attack Brother Ray. Andy and Chase go for a table while Shane punches Brother Ray with a chain. Shane chokes Brother Ray while Andy sets up the table in the corner. Andy and Chase Irish whip Brother Ray through the table.
We cut to the back where Brother Devon is under a guard rail after being attacked by someone. We go to commercial.
We are back and Mike mentions the prime time debut next week. Don talks about an incident that happened earlier when America’s Most Wanted had an autograph session.
We see Konnan confront Harris and Storm at the autograph session and he asks them if they think he forgot about what happened two weeks ago. Konnan disrupts the autograph session and while Storm and Harris focus on Konnan, Homicide attacks Harris and Storm from behind, and then Hernandez joins in. They brawl at the table and then Hernandez sends Storm into the wall. Konnan kicks the guardrail into Harris’s arm while Hernandez gives Storm a border toss into the wall and Storm is not moving.
Kevin Nash joins Don and Mike at the announce table for the next match.
Match Number Two: Petey Williams versus Johnny Devine versus The Austin Starr (with Kevin Nash and Alex Shelley)
Williams with a side head lock to Devine, but Starr with a rollup on Devine. Williams with a sunset flip, but Starr rolls through and hits a drop kick. Devine with a snap mare and knees to Starr’s head. Starr with a springboard back elbow to Devine and then he sends Williams to the apron. Williams with a slingshot gutbuster to Starr but Devine breaks up the cover. Devine with a snap suplex and float over to Williams. Starr with a side slam to Devine. Williams and Devine chop Starr and then they hit a double back body drop. Williams with a satellite side Russian leg sweep to Devine and then he sets for the Canadian Destroyer, but Starr breaks it up with a flying clothesline. Devine with a catapult to Williams but Williams with a forearm to Starr. Devine with a slam followed by a moonsault, but he can only get a two count after Starr breaks up the cover. Devine with a back slide to Starr for a two count. Starr with a kick and brainbuster to Devine. Starr goes up top and Shelley gets on the apron to get a better shot. Williams sends Shelley into Starr and Starr is incapacitated while Williams hits the Canadian Destroyer on Devine for the three count.
Winner: Petey Williams
After the match, Nash leaves the announce position and he wants to know what Shelley was doing.
The tag team champions come to the ring and Hernandez has the Uncle Sam mannequin that was previously used as a piñata. They enter the ring and Konnan gets on the mic. He says that you can stop a revolutionary, but you can’t stop a revolution. He tells America’s Most Wanted that a few weeks ago, they tried to get on them from behind. Today they found out that you do not jump LAX from behind. Konnan tells Petey Williams that he is an immigrant just like them and he has probably been discriminated against. He invited Petey to join them to see how to deal with the white man in this country. Next week, they are going to burn the American flag. They will do that on prime time. Their flags stand for honor and dignity while the American flag stands for lies, exploitation, and racism. Next week, he is going to spit on, urinate on, and then burn the flag. We go to commercial.
We are back and Mike Tenay talks about the prime time debut next week. He talks about the barbed wire six sides of steel match between Christian and Rhino. He has Christian and Rhino to talk about the match. Christian is in the Impact Zone while Rhino is at an undisclosed location. Mike suggests to Christian that Rhino has the advantage because Rhino possesses the key to open the cage door. Christian says that is an asinine statement to suggest that Rhino has any advantage. Christian says that he is willing to go through a list of things that he has an advantage over Rhino. He says that he is faster, more agile, taller, more supple skin, better penmanship, nicer hair, he grows better facial hair, and the list goes on. He says that if Mike wants a complete list, he can ask Rhino’s ex-wife. Christian says that one thing that sets himself apart from Rhino is the intangibles. It is the ring awareness, ring generalship, and ring smarts. He has one advantage over everyone in the industry and that is brains. He is smarter than anyone else. He is going to embarrass Rhino worse than he embarrassed Rhino in his home town.
Mike agrees with some of the advantages that Christian mentioned as well as the fact that Christian has the bolt cutters to escape over the top of the cage. Rhino says that you can talk about bolt cutters and he wonders what they will do when they are shoved up his ass. Where will Christian run to when he kicks out his kneecaps? Christian interrupts Rhino and says that Rhino has been saying a lot, but he has not beaten Christian yet. Rhino says that it is payback next week and it is time for revenge. Christian tells Rhino that he is going to make him bleed again. Rhino says that he is going to make Christian bleed as well, and Christian will beg for his life. He will not have any compassion as he runs Christian’s head along the barbed wire and cage. Christian says that he would like to see Rhino do that right now. Rhino says he knows exactly where Christian is and he says that he is going to kick Christian’s ass right now. Rhino leaves and Christian looks around as Mike sends things over to Don.
Don West is at Genesis Central. Don talks about the shows in Philadelphia and East Hartford, Connecticut this weekend. Don talks about the newest DVD releases. Don mentions the prime time debut next week featuring the six sides of steel barbed wire match and the TNA in ring debut of Kurt Angle. Don talks about the Samoa Joe/Kurt Angle match.
We see James Mitchell getting Abyss ready for his match with A.J. Styles.
We are back with Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle commenting about their match at Genesis. Samoa Joe says that Kurt Angle is one of the best in the world. Angle says that he hand picked Samoa Joe since he is the top of the food chain and he wants to prove that he is the best. Joe says that Angle claims to be the best in the world, but he says that Angle knows it is not true because he has not beaten the best in the world yet. Angle says that he has a lot to gain and a lot to lose. He has his reputation. He talks about making Joe bleed. Joe says that he has used other people’s blood as a trophy during his time in TNA. Angle says that Joe might be undefeated, but until Joe beats him, Joe cannot be considered among the top in wrestling. Joe says that Angle has accomplished a lot and he is a fierce and competitive warrior who does not know the meaning of the word quit. Angle says that he enjoys inflicting pain, but Joe says that nobody can hurt a man like Joe can. He says that Angle cannot train for violence and pain. Angle invites Joe to come to him and take him on face to face, in the ring or out. Joe does not do this for the accolades. Angle says that he has never been as focused in his career. He guarantees that this will be the match of the year. Joe says that he will make Angle tap at Genesis. Angle wants Joe to remember this match. Joe says that Angle will be broken.
Match Number Three: Abyss (with James Mitchell) versus A.J. Styles (with Christopher Daniels) in the Fight for your Right Tournament Finals to determine the number one contender for the NWA World Heavyweight Title
Before the match begins, A.J. Styles stretches out his legs after what happened during the earlier match. James Mitchell and Christopher Daniels have been sent to the back by TNA officials. Styles goes for Abyss’s leg but Abyss pulls A.J. off and tosses A.J. into the ropes. Styles with a waist lock but Abyss pulls Styles off and he tosses A.J. into the turnbuckles. Abyss charges at Styles, but A.J. moves out of the way. Styles with shoulders in the corner and then he hits a rana on Abyss. Styles tries for a suplex, but Abyss blocks it. Styles escapes a suplex attempt and he hits a tilt-a-whirl head scissors. Styles with two running clotheslines into the corner and he charges one more time, but Styles runs into a big boot from Abyss. Abyss leaves the ring and he grabs a chair and he wedges it into the turnbuckles. Styles punches Abyss while the referee tries to remove the chair from the ring. Abyss with a punch to Styles and Styles goes down. Abyss tries for a power bomb, but Styles is able to counter it with a sunset flip. Abyss rolls through and he catapults Styles into the chair in the turnbuckles. Abyss kicks Styles and chokes him in the corner. Abyss charges at Styles and splashes him in the corner.
We cut to Sabin, Dutt, Lethal, and Lynn watching the match from a part of the Impact Zone and Sabin is bored.
We return to the action in the ring and Abyss gets Styles up for Shock Treatment, but Styles escapes the hold. Abyss with a knee, but Styles responds with a drop kick and he punches Abyss. Styles with a punch in the corner. Abyss sends Styles into the corner where the referee is standing but Styles stops short. Abyss charges into the corner and he splashes Styles and the referee.
From out of nowhere, Christian Cage comes into the ring with a chair and he hits Abyss in the abdomen and head with the chair. Christian also hits Styles with the chair. Christian stands on the apron and then he gets a mic and says that he is the only true number one contender in TNA. Christian leaves the ringside area. The referee starts his count and he calls for the bell after the ten count.
Winner: Double Count out
After the match, the other referees come to the ring to discuss what happened and we go to commercial.
We are back and we are told by ring announcer Dave Penzer that the match has been restarted. Abyss charges at Styles, but Styles goes to the apron and he hits the springboard forearm and he gets a two count. Styles with a drop kick for another two count. Styles tries for a running forearm but Abyss grabs Styles by the throat, but Styles with a rollup for a two count. Abyss sends Styles into the corner, but he charges into an elbow. Abyss tries for a springboard move but Abyss stops him and he hits Shock Treatment. James Mitchell comes to the ring with a bag of thumbtacks, but Christopher Daniels comes out and stops him. The referee deals with Daniels and Mitchell. Styles hits the Pele kick and he sets up for the Styles Clash, but Sabin with an enzuigiri and Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam for the three count.
Winner: Abyss
After the match, Lynn, Sabin, Dutt, and Lethal leave through the Chute of Facial Impact.
We go to the rafters where Sting is watching. We go to credits.
